I've recently attempted to trouble shoot my refrigerator that won't defrost. After detaching the back panel of the freezer I have found unbelievable amounts of ice even after 24 hours without power. Turns out that the defrost heater was smashed to pieces due to ice pressure. I have found the part online WR51X365 and it appears to be way more expensive than other similar defrost heaters. My question is do I have to use this exact part or is there another defrost heater that would suffice? Thank you.

There are no generic ones you can use for this fridge. I also recommend you replace the defrost thermostat as that may have been the reason it froze up on ya...WR50X122

It seems that your compressor is having some problem. I suggest you to consult a technician for it.
