There is a humming when the door is closed. I unplugged the unit and when it is plugged back in -reset the clock - close the door and the unit hums. It will operate fine but after the set amount of time expires you remove the food or liquid, and close the door - hum starts. and water will continue to boil.
Is this problem with the door switches or something else and how can I fix it ?
Thanks

Sounds like there are a few things went wrong. One is the smart board. The second problem is a bad door switches. The third problem (humming noise) most likely is a bad magnetron.
Unplug the microwave and do not use it until you will fix it. It may be not worth to fix it at all due do cost of repair which can be much over $400.

Gene,
Thank you for the reply ! I have another bit of information to perhaps give you some further in-site to my problem. When I close the door, reset the clock, and enter a "Cook Time" the unit responds, ie say boil water for 1 min. it works perfectly counts down, bell chimes and there is a pause, then the hum comes on and the microwave continues to run. Open the door and it shuts down.
Could it be only a door switch ? or do you think that it is all of the items you previously listed as possible problems ?
Thank you ! ajchip

The correction is to replace the smart board which cost $263.35 Even if this is incorrect, you anyway have to determine where the humming is coming from. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for GE JVM1860SF001 Microwave - AppliancePartsPros.comAs I suggest earlier do not use the microwave until it's fixed. Gene.
