Hi.

You need to determine which part involved in the defrost process failed.
Unplug the fridge, locate the control board at the rear of the fridge behind the metal cover plate.
Locate and remove the plug on the left marked J8,J9,J11.
Next to it find the plug J7.
Use the multimeter and check continuity between the J9 wire from the plug and J7 pin 9 (the top one).

If the resistance is > then 22 ohm - replace the control board Part number: WR55X10942
Part number: WR55X10942

Read the instructions when replacing the board, some adjustments may need to be done.

If the circuit is open you need to open the evaporator from inside the freezer and check continuity of the defrost heater and defrost thermostat ( thermostat must be ice cold when tested).
The heater Part number: WR51X10055
Part number: WR51X10055

The thermostat Part number: WR50X10065
Part number: WR50X10065

It's recommended to replace the evaporator thermistor when replacing the control board #242 on the diagram

Part number: WR55X10025

Hi,

I also have a GE GSH25JFXBWW. However, my control board looks a little different. Mine is vertical instead of horizontal. I can't tell for sure what pin 9 on J7 is.

My freezer is working, but my refrigerator is running warm. When I pulled the back panel off inside the freezer, the coils where completely frozen over. I manually defrosted them and plugged the unit back in. My fridge is still running warm. So, I'm trying to determine if there's something wrong in the control board of if there's a different problem.

Can you please give me some direction?

Thanks!

Hi.

You have the same control board, it just installed vertically.
