one light burnt out and created a burnt wire smell for a while. Then the other light wouldn't go out. the switch would not work. then the light went out. the smell disappeared, the rest of the oven works fine. i replaced the bulb but still wont work.

Turn the power off and remove the control panel. Look for any burned marks on the microcomputer. You may need to replace it.

:) What would the cost be for replacing the chip?

There are no parts available for the microcomputer board. It must be replaced as an assembly. I have seen a few web sites that rebuild boards but I don't know how successful it is.

Thanks Rick I guess I have to do without the microwave light and cheaper to install under cabinet lights on either side of the cookktop. everything else works on the microwave oven and fan Nick
