Call me nuts for doing this, but it saved me $70.00. My MDC4650AWW dishwasher needed a new control panel, # 6-920396 so instead I ordered 6-919398, but since it needed to be front vented I carefully peeled the touch pad off the panel and reglued it to my unit. It now seems to work just fine. But my old control panel's first selection under "options" was HI Temp Wash. The new "wrong" panel's option in that location is Extra Rinse. So now if I select Extra Rinse, will that really be High Temp Wash?

I would say no. If the pin outs for that button are the same then what the button does is dependant on the control board not the panel.

Other functions may or may not work depending on the what pins are closed when that button is pushed.

See the attachment for the tech sheets on units that use the given panels.

Thanks denman, Those tech sheets were handy to answer this question. The pins are the same for Hi Temp Wash or Extra Rinse, so used with the control board for this model the outcome is the same, and that would be that the rinse is heated in some cycles. But if this control panel was on the machine it was designed for and useing that control board the Extra Rinse button would actually add rinse time to certain cycles. At least that is how I understood it by reading the tech sheets, thanks again.
