1st I'd like to thank all of you for consistently great service. I have personally repaired my old washer twice thru help from your videos and parts dept. Today my problem is due to a dumb mistake I made. I had loaded a few pieces of clothes and filled the tub with water a couple of weeks ago and then stopped the process after water level was met. It was filled to about halfway up the tub. I left and forgot about this until 2 days ago when I went to do some laundry and realized I had left some clothes in there unwashed with the tub filled with water. It is now unable to stop filling up with water. Water does stop filling when I turn control knob to OFF position. However, while on no matter where the control knob is turned to the water continues to fill.

I have now watched your video "Washer Water Level Switch (part #W10337780) - How To Replace" and some other videos as well. I have taken the 1st few steps per video instructions but my water level switch is an older part - not quite the same as the one on the video which is a much newer unit. Both ends of the hose were properly connected but the cup welded to the tub on the bottom side of the tub which releases the pressure thru the hose to the sensor does look moldy or dirty inside. However, I am getting this feeling that the switch itself isn't the problem but something else may have been damaged due to water having sat in the tub for 2 weeks thereby causing the weight of the load to damage something else perhaps. Would appreciate your professional thoughts on this and advise on what I can do to troubleshoot the issue. I can attach a few pics later of my Whirlpool washer showing the control panel and water level switch and whatever else is necessary to give a clearer picture.

Lastly, if it is necessary to confirm my Whirlpool info my last order from you guys was Order #2628348 - hope this contains my washer info that you may need to help me.

Before starting the new cycle did you drain out the water?

The water level switch is a pressure switch. As the water rises in the tube the air pressure rises until it is at the set point of the water level switch and then it shuts off the water.

If you left the water in the tub the pressure in the tube probably dissipated and it will overfill before it can reach the set point of the level switch.
