Hello All!
So happy to find this forum!! Hope someone can
help me out.

Old "Imperial Heavy Duty Commercial Freezer", at least
that is what is on the door. Managed to salvage from a
bait shop that went under. Has worked fine for 2 years,
I believe the model is from 1991.

Recently, what used to be 11 degrees solid has gone up
to 40 plus. Removed back section inside freezer to check
coils, which were nice and clean. Fan up top of coils is
clear and spinning freely. Styrofoam "housing" around ther-
mometer dial has broken, but dial still works: shuts off and
turns on anyway.

The machine compressor works for about 10-15 seconds and
then turns off...at least I think its the compressor that is making
the noise.

I've tried to find a manual online, but from all indications, Imperial
has changed or been bought by Fridgidaire and no parts of my
numbers are being located. Very frustrating.

Either I fix this box, or I turn it into a food smoker!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Here are your parts
Parts for Frigidaire UL1950ECW2 - AppliancePartsPros.com

You have to confirm that it is the compressor that is trying to start.

Then if it is following is some info on how to check it.
If it is OK then it may be the start relay or overload.
Notre: that if it checks out OK electrically it does not mean that the compressor is totally OK as it may have mechanical problems.

thank you so much...
Quick question..how do I confirm the compressor is trying to start?? It runs for about 10 seconds...gets warm, then quits..but it DOES start.
and like the idiot that I am...I thought the capacitor was the relay..thankfully the PDF file from below this thread set me straight!
This freezer may become a smoker yet!!
thanks again!!

Remove the back panel from the unit and listen. Also it should get warm and you should be able to feel it vibrate.
