I had a power surge from Illinois's last spring snow storm. Freezer seems ok. Fridge is warm/cool. New to fridge repair. I'll get into reading this forum soon. I see this is a common problem.

I cleaned up all air intakes.
Cleaned coils and fan of dust/cat hair.
Tried unpluging 2 times to reset, once for 10 minutes and once for 1 hr.
No fix.

Compressor and fan will run.
Compressor feels warm sometimes.
Copper tube can be cold or warm depending.
The link has detailed pics (serial/models #'s)

One other note, there is a unattached cable which looks greasy not sure of it's purpose. All this is detailed in the pics.

I thank you and the internet for all these crazy home repairs.

Is the fan in the freezer running?
If not this may be your problem, it has to run to push cold air into the fresh food section.

Your compressor sounds like it is working OK.

Could be a defrost problem, it usually shows up in the fresh food side first and later in the freezer side. Remove the rear cover at the back of the freezer so you can see the evaporator coils. If they are heavily iced up you have a defrost problem. This prevents the fan from circulating air through the evaporator coils.

The freezer fan is running. So there is no fan in the fresh food area? Only the freezer fan? The fan was on for a moment when I opened the freezer for about 15 minutes, trying to figure out what I could disassemble. It did not turn back on for a long time. I would have thought the temp drop would make it kick back on quickly? Could whatever measures temp be frozen up? Not sure quite yet how to remove the ice maker to see the evaporation coils.

Could be that the machine entered a defrost cycle which is usually 20 to 30 minutes. The fan will shut off also the compressor and it's fan will shut off.
Just a note on defrost. When the unit goes into defrost the defrost heater comes on the freezer fan, compressor and it's fan shut off. Once the coils are deiced the defrost thermostat shuts off the heater but the unit stays in defrost as this is a fixed amount of time.

Doubt it.

You can force the unit into a defrost see the tech sheet.
You might be able to see the defrost heater glow when it is on.
This tells you that at least the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat is OK.

Rereading your earlier post you did not say if you checked the Damper (Item 115 in the "Controls" section. It must be open for cold air to enter the fresh food section from the freezer.

This can't be good!! Part 23 on the schematic just shows the board. Mine is actually inside the white plastic box you can see in the pic. Can I get this part somewhere?

Check out Item 23 in the "Controls" section. Note that in the list it is at the bottom as F23. Often this means the part has had problems and has been modified.

You may want to check the components this board controls just to be sure you do not have a short somewhere.
