Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 1/28/2012(UTC) Posts: 1		My dryer won't start. No drum movement, no heat. When the timer is in ANY on position, I hear a faint ticking, but nothing happens. If I switch it off OR open the door and then close the door and put in an on position again and try to push the start button, the button pushes in, but nothing happens. I tested the start switch, the door switch, and the timer motor and all read zero on a digital multimeter. I do not have an RX1 setting. I have 200, 2000, 20k, 200k, or 2000k. Which should I choose? My readings are either a number 1 far to the left of the screen or numbers to the right of the screen. I know zero is ideal, but if not the 1 to the left, is a near zero reading acceptable? Also, to test the timer motor for a 2000-3000 ohm reading, which setting should I use on the multimeter? Thanks, John

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 9/27/2012(UTC) Posts: 1		WARNING: Unplug your appliance before attempting any repairs! The blower fuse is most likely the culprit. If the blower fuse is blown it is necessary to replace the operating thermostat as well. You can access these two small parts by removing the dryer's access panel, located on the back of the unit. The panel is large and covers most of the back side of the dryer. The fuse and blower on both Whirlpool and Kenmore dryers are usually located down near the exhaust. Youtube has numerous videos detailing this procedure. One key point to remember is that the fuse is usually tripped by a clogged exhaust system. Both for safety AND function, make sure that your dryer's exhaust port, pipe, and vent are clear of debris. It may be necessary (and time) to replace your flexible vent (if you have this style). Cleaning will not only prevent fuse problems in the future, but will also prevent the possibility of a fire! Best of luck to any reading this.
