Per you description the problem is a bad Electronic Oven Control. It is impossible to find the correct replacement part without complete model number. The only way to do it is to look for the part number printed on the original part.

This is the part with the display on it. You have to remove it and look for all numbers printed on the part.

Gene. P.S. As far as I know APP does not ship parts to Canada. You have to have a valid US address to order parts from APP. Gene, I just came across your solution and was hoping your could help here. I have a kenmore model 790.96113409 that started out with the same problem. Temp ran away and bake was using the broiler element eventually leading to an F10 error code and auto shut down of the stove (upper 500 deg F). The original wiring diagram and trouble shooting/spec sheet was attached to the back of the unit so as per it's recommendation I tested the temp probe and it came within 5 ohm at temperature up to 400 F. This checked, and with concurrence from APP, I then ordered the EOC (control board). I installed it this afternoon and tested the oven at all temp (every 100 F) up to 500 F and all worked good. However later this evening, when using only the burners and not the oven, the F10 error code came back on (on the new replacement board) and that's got me stunned, is there anything else that can trigger the F10 code or did I get a bad board? Could the temp probe still be the culprit? Thanks, Gunnar

Hi Gunnar,
Check the temperature probe at the room temperature.
What is the part number of the EOC you installed?

I have a Kenmore oven and I was getting the F10 alarm also. At first it just did it one time after the oven was running for about 3 hours but it worked fine after that so I let it go. Then it did it again about 6 months later but this time it did it everytime I tried to use the oven. Luckily it happened a couple of weeks before Christmas so I was able to refer to this site and follow the instructions on this thread to determine the problem, order the part, and get it fixed in time for Christmas dinner. First I checked the resistance on the temperature probe and since it read 1148 ohms I assumed that was close enough so I went ahead and ordered the control panel. I crossed my fingers that the panel was the problem because it was pretty expensive but I decided to give it a shot. Fortunately it worked and it was pretty easy to replace. It took about 20mins to take the back off the oven to diagnose the problem and another 30 or 40mins to replace the control panel and I was back up an running. Luckily I was able to use the original faceplate because I didn't order that part when I ordered the control panel. If you are careful you can peel the old faceplate off the original control panel and reuse it like I did. We ran the oven a lot before Christmas baking cookies and for about 6 - 7 hours on Christmas day without any problems. It looks like the oven is fixed. Thank you Gene!! Your advice was very helpful. You helped me save a lot of money by fixing the oven myself.

So we've been having a recurring issues with our oven. Its the Kenmore Elite, model is 790.78903001. 1) When set to preheat, the LCD temperature display starts at 100* but does not rise with the temperature of the oven. 2) When set to Bake, the temperature either rises to about 125* and stays there, *or* it goes to much hotter than what its set to, and ends up burning whatever we're trying to cook. 3) In combination with the above two problems, the oven will display the F10 error and beep until unplugged.
From what I've read it sounds like I need to test the oven probe with my voltmeter, but could one of you explain that testing process in a little more detail? (Plugged in? Set oven to anything in particular? Etc..)
Thanks!!
