I have a KGCT305B Kitchen Aid glass cooktop installed on a granite countertop and one of the burners does not ignite. I had a service call from a local appliance repair service but he could access the switch, ignitor or spark module. The underside appears completely sealed except for where the gas and electrical lines come in. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Hello,

I have the same problem. I need to be able to open the cooktop from kitchenaid to examine if the smoke from a small fire damaged any wiring in there. I moved the whole cooktop unit out but could not find a way to open the case that embodies the devices inside, even though there were screws .....

Did you have a solution to this?????????

I had another appliance guy come out. It is only gravity holding the cooktop on but there was so much sticky grime that it took a major effort to get it up. The lower part is just sheet metal covering; you need to lift up the cooktop. Good luck.

Thank you Imagesrme.

Yes I was able to raise up the whole unit from the bottom and placed the whole unit on the counter. However, how did you open the unit? I saw some screws on the side, however even if I take those screws out, the bottom is like a pan, it does not seems to have sides that I can take out. Can I just lift the top surface which house the panel/knob etc? Or do I unscrew the screws first then lifting that up??? Thank you for your help.

I may not have the same model as yours but on mine you could lift the top suface although the muck was holding it on. The sheet metal screws really didn't have anything to do with it.
