Upright freezer 3 months out of warranty. Is not cooling well. Is digital. Repairman said needs "a part". The compressor continues to run when in defrost mode according to him. Iced up on back panel. The service call was $75. The part is supposedly $77 and another $129 for the work. That is $311.00 repair for a $450 freezer that is less than 1.5 years old. Can you help me with finding the part and is it doable myself to install?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for Kenmore 25328432807 | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is the wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...df/StCloud/297246001.pdfHere is the control. Click on the picture for more info. Part number: AP5306797
it should just snap into the door. Frigidaire's tech info is a little confusing but you could try the following. Manual Defrost To manually enter the defrost mode, turn the freezer off, then press the down arrow an additional four times. A “d” will flash on the display for the thirty minutes of the defrost cycle. To exit the manual defrost before it is complete, press the down arrow four times. If the compressor does not shut off then you know that the tech made the correct diagnosis. |

So, I ordered a defrost thermostat. You included info on the control. Does this need replaced also or was that just info for the diagnostic?

A defrost thermostat will not keep the compressor on when in defrost.
It's function is to turn off the defrost heater once all the frost/ice has melted off the evaporator coils. This prevents excessive heat in the freezer. It should be 0 ohms when frozen and must be checked when frozen as it opens just above freezing. |
