Hi, I have a GE Microwave / Oven combo and the microwave is not heating and the turntable in not running. I can hear the microwave fan coming on and lights are operational. I have replaced the magnetron but still there is no heat and the turntable is not turning. I do remeber that when it was working I could hear a buzzing sound. Any ideas as where to check next?
thanks again

Hi.
You need to know what are you doing to perform the "life" tests on the microwave.
First check the primary interlock door switch (top).
Check if the primary winding of the high voltage transformer getting 120VAC. If yes - check the high voltage diod and capacitor. Remember to discharge the capacitor before testing it.
Post the results.
Simon.

Hi Simon, thank you so much for replying to my thread soquickly. I have checked the H.V.D by applying 120 vac to it and checked theresult with a voltmeter. It checked okay since it only passed around 60vacthrough it as expected. I think microwave is getting power since the light, fanand control board are coming on! It is a bit difficult to measure thecapacitor voltage since this is a all in one unit and the microwave has 3 setsof plugs underneath it and mounted in a cabinet. If the H.V. capacitor is bad will it stop the turntablefrom turning? Again the symptoms are kind of odd since it is not turning andthere is no heat generating. If the interlock door switch is bad is the symptomabove fits the scenario? Is the switch a mechanical type relay or is it solidstate?

Hi Simon, I checked all the relay switches and they were allgood. However the top relay looked kind of suspicious, terminal plug lookedlike it was burnt or had some grease or something in it. I cleaned theterminals and scraped them off. Also cleaned and scraped the connectors on therelay as well. Plugged everything back in and guess what now it is working! I believethe door was not making the connection due to the dirty contacts on the relayand the connector. Thanks again for all your help and guidance. I am one happy camper now! Kamran
