I have a seven year ol gas range. The oven would not ignite. I replaced the ignitor. One of the wires looked black when I stripped it. I cleaned it as well as I could then attached the new ignitor with the wire nuts provided. I pluged in the oven and tried to turn the oven on before installing the flame spreader. The oven door was open. The contol pannel made a beep as I pushed the button and a few seconds latter it clicked. The ignitor did not begin glowing. I continued to observe the ignitor far a minute. I examined the flame bar and it did not seem corroded.

I believe that I may need to replace either the gas saftey valve (see part 17 - diagram Burner replacement parts for Frigidaire FGF337AWJ Frigidaire/gas Range | AppliancePartsPros.com) or the control panel. I don't know how to test for continuity. We think that the parts are to expensive to keep on trying things that don't fix the problem. Please advise.
