When motor goes to "agitate", it runs for about 10 seconds and shuts off. It will run again after a cool down for another 10 secs. and then shut off again. Sound of motor is somewhat loud, and vibrates more than normal. Set timer to spin and it runs normal. Acts like thermal overload. Removed belt so trans- gear box is out of loop, still shuts down. Pump turns ok but don't know how much resistance is normal? Put new motor in, same thing.
Does that meen lit's the pump or could there be an electrical issue with power to the pump during agitate cycle?

I think it is the motor. You have taken everything else out of the equation. Usually the failure and overload should happen on both spin and agitate but for some reason yours is failing on agitate only.

Try changing out the motor, I think that will fix things.
