I accidentally knocked off the ground wire to the compressor and reconnected it incorrectly to the temperature overload protector instead of the actual ground connection. I heard a zzzt. I have checked the thermal protector and is has continuity. I checked the PTC relay and it has ohm resistance within ratings.
It won't start. I tried a new overload protector but it didn't help. Any ideas?

Hi.
Do you get a 120VAC to the compressor?
Check the compressor's three pins for continuity and to the "ground".
If the internal windings are burnt or grounded you need a new compressor.
Simon.

You blew open the run winding in the compressor, check continuity between the compressor top pin to bottom, right
