I have a high pitched noise during the spin cycle ... It didn't start gradually one day it was fine the next time I washed it screeched ... I only did 2 loads and do not want to do more for fear of damage ... Any suggestions?

Hi.

Check what's inside the drain pump (you'll be surprised).
Use the video clip for the instructions.

The drain pump Part number: 3363394
Part number: 3363394

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Whirlpool LSR5232LQ0 WASHER - DIRECT DRIVE | AppliancePartsPros.com

Good luck. Post the results.

I found nothing in there how free should it turn? Should I try running the spin cycle without it and see what happens... any other suggestions?

Hi.

Yes, run the washer in spin without the drain pump attached. Try to locate the source of the noise.
To do so you'll have to jump the lid switch wires.

OK now I pulled the motor and tranny and turned it on and it seemed to work fine with no noise ... the clutch looked good as did the brake shoes

I was very confused after your last reply could not understand why you would just say put it back together and try ... Well I was planning on just getting rid of it but to my surprise when I did put it back together it stopped the noise ... I'm stumped on why this worked ... Thanks for your help
