I have a Maytag Legacy Gas Dryer...in auto dry the timer will not advance. The gas and flame will come on for a very short period of time, 1-2 minutes. Then the gas shuts off. the motor keeps running and will tumble the clothes "forever". I tested the timer...it seems ok. I checked the thermostats, both show continuity when at room temperature. I cleaned out the exhaust and the lint tray....removed and thorough cleaning. I even tried to run the dryer disconnected from the exhaust...no luck. model # mdg308daww

I have the same model with the same problem. It seems as if the "autodry" sensor is not working. If I dial to a timed dry it, the knob advances. What part do we need to replace in order for this to work?
