Very good work Slappy. I have used the WR07X10051 for most of my repairs and never had a callback.

Very good work Slappy. I have used the WR07X10051 often and never had a callback. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend these units for the person who lacks tech training. While the insertion of this device is goof proof, the wiring of it is not. Also, I have no specs on klixon response time, I assume for a normal 16 amp overload, it will trip out in less than a second. As you know, the device has spade terminals for both run and start windings, thus allowing the wiring in of the run capacitor. However, someone can wire in the fridg. power wire directly to the start pin thus bypassing the start device resistance! It is unknown if the start winding will fail before the klixon trips. Not willing to try this on a good compressor.

richappy, speaking of the run capacitor, do you typically replace it as well when one of the other start components fails?
I've seen some recommendations to replace all three (start device, overload, and cap) when just the start device fails. What do you think?
I only replaced the start device relay and the overload, since the capacitor is kinda expensive - unless you know of cheaper alternatives?

In my repairs, I have never seen a run capacitor fail, and have never replaced one. They are a very reliable part. I check them with my capacitor checker, and check the start winding current draw while running, have never seen high current indicative of a capacitor short!. You might want to do the same.

Roper RT18DKXWW01 Serial: EA09118041 Type: 18ATR91
EMBRACO FGV V80 115 VA 60 Hz 11 LRA 1 PH
Starting Device Klixon FSP FSP 8EA 103 1108143 19 TOL Brasil
Kixon: FSP 1108114 330KFBYY -52 BNIBA
So tearing apart the starting device the inside is garbage. The disk is in fragments.
So the questions are: Seems as if the starting relay is the Whirlpool 2262181. Is there a cheaper one I could use? (Could I guess that the compressor is rated at 11 amps for starting and 1 amp for running?
Should I replace the Klixon? No other symptoms that I recall before the compressor quit starting.
Regards and thanks! Michael

I hope you made a diagram of which wires go where. If so, and the new start device is identical, and is the recomended part for your model, then buy the 2262181 part. You should use a 1000 joule surge protector in the wall outlet to prevent future failures.
