I have a Maytag LAT9206BAE top-loading washer that it stopped spinning/draining today. I've reset it to the spin cycle a couple of times, and I could tell the motor was straining, smelled the belts a bit, then it would quit. I drained the water and opened the front: motor slides fine, and can't see any blockage to the water drainage. The belts underneath seem okay, I think. The main one has the correct slack (I can just pinch it together) and spins in both directions. The front belt spins easily in one direction, not so well in the other, and also might be a little slack (I can pinch it past the two sides touching). Looking inside, things look pretty normal - no sign of obvious leakage or corrosion.
From the little reading I've done, I suspect it's the spin bearing. The washer is over 10 years old (that how long I've owned the house), but I have no idea if it's much older than that. My main question is, should I have a repair person come out and properly diagnose things, or is it likely I should go ahead and get a new one?

Remove the belt and check the pump, might have bad bearings.
