Kenmore washer Mod 110 grinding/screeching noise

When the spin cycle ends there is this terrible sound like metal scraping on metal. We are afraid that something has gotten in between the tubs but on the posts it looks like it might be something else. I did look underneath the machine and there appears to be fine black fileings on the floor and transmission housing but I didn't look closely enough to determine if they are metal or plastic, etc. What would be the first thing to replace in trying to fix this, or what are the different possible problems?

Hi. Most likely the noise comes from the brakes inside the clutch assembly. You may try to spray a bit of WD-40 or replace the clutch Part number: 285785
Thank you. Post the results. Simon.
