My dryer is shutting off before the load is dry, it is displaying the error code E1. I can get it to dry sometimes with very small loads but not regularly and certainly not a load of towels or heavy things. Do I need a thermistor and if so, how is it installed? I am a disabled person on a very limited income and I really need this dryer.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

An E1 is a thermistor failure, part #AP3919451. It is located behind the lower access panel on top of the blower housing and is held in place with a couple 1/4 screws. If you use a meter to check the resistance, you will probably find an open circuit.

If the thermistor is failing, would the dryer still complete a cycle sometimes? Thank you so much for your help.

I will need to find a diagram and be able to figure out where the thermistor IS so I can replace it.

Thanks, appreciate the help, I just re-read your post, I am going to order the part and pray that my husband can install it.

I am in the middle of an appliance nightmare...will post about refrigerator shortly...lawn mower died too (is that an appliance?)
