I replaced the ignitor on my oven yesterday. The broiler and range work fine.
When removing the old ignitor, the wire had burned through and sparked. (Obviously should have unplugged it prior too). Installed the new ignitor but it will not burn at all.
I was told the safety switch goes bad if the ignitor sparks. Is this true? Any ideas?

Hi.
Here what could happened when the wires got shorted: - ignitor got damaged - safety gas valve coil burned - bake relay in the control board shorted.
Check continuity (using a multimeter) of the ignitor, safety gas valve (bake contacts). At the control board check for 120VAC (with the oven turned to bake) between BA and N. Unplug the range while disassembling and checking continuity.
Thank you. Post the results.
Simon.
