Gene.

Should i still replace the transformer? I was thinking about ordering the transformer and touch panel and then replace one piece at a time hopefully getting the unit to work. Then return the items that I dont plug in. Is this advisable? Will Appliance Parts Pros accept returns? the part numbers i was going to order are AP3043894 and AP3968801. What do you think?

Gene, I have replaced the touch panel as well as the transformer. now, the "start" button will not work but every other button seems to work fine. I have not replaced the electronic control board yet, is it possible that could also be bad?

Did the new transformer fix the display problem?

Open the control panel and double check the ribbon connection into the control board.

I ordered both a transformer as well as the touch pad. I replaced the transformer first without replacing the keypad but it did not fix the problem at all. I then replaced the keypad and i thought it was fixed but the "start" button is the only one that doesnt work now. could it still only be a connection issue with the ribbon?

Yes, it's very possible.

I did not get clear if the display is fine now.

the l.e.d. is very clear but now i notice that the following buttons dont work: "lower oven", "min down", "hour down", "start" and "light" do not make a beep when i touch them. I removed the ribbon, cleaned the contacts with an eraser, and then powered the unit back. nothing has changed. the only part i have not replaced is the control board, can it still be an issue?

You did not have to clean the ribbon on the new control panel. I hope you used a pencil eraser because a pen eraser can damage the ribbon.

With the new control panel and transformer there is nothing left but the control board.

You should talk to the Appliance Parts Pros team to exchange the control panel (key panel) under the part warranty. Most likely it is defective.
