When my wife went to make a cake, the oven had not cooked the cake... we realized something was wrong. I have already replaced the element in the last 5 years. When I looked for advice on the problem, I thought it might be the temp sensor. I thought it was a no brainer, ordered a probe through appliance parts pro and installed it. However, that was not the correct solution and after a 2nd spoiled cake, I'm in hot water. I need a way to figure the right part to order.

This time a did an ohm test on both elements, and they tested ok (yes, wires disconnected). The advice I have found says control or timer is to blaim. If I'm going to put $200 into a part, I want to make sure that's it.

I'm more of a plumber than an electrician, but I can think like a mechanic, I just don't know what tests I should make on the system.

Does the oven come ready or does it stay in preheat?
Since you baked a cake, it probably comes ready. I just want to be sure.
Does it take longer to come up to the set point temperature?
If yes then odds are one of the elements is not working.

Check that the wiring/connections to the elements are OK.

Since the oven does heat some, the safety thermostat is OK.
I would get an oven thermometer and then monitor the temperature.
Most units switch back and forth between the bake and broil elements when in bake mode.
So if you see the temperature drop and an element does not come on but after a while (larger temperature drop) the other element comes on, I would say that the control board is toast. As long as the wiring is OK.

Got an oven thermometer to test oven temp. Oven takes a few minutes to pre heat to 350 degrees, when the oven beeped that it had reached 350, it actually was 300 degrees. After that, it slowly climbed to 340. Then I tried setting it higher to 400. It got to 350 then slowly climbed to 390 after 15min. I never saw top (broiler?) element turn red... not sure if it is supposed to or not. After opening the door to bring temp down, bottom element eventually came on (turning red) to heat back up to 375.
The wiring in the back appears to be all connected and no signs of fraying or burned.
Perhaps the top (broiler) element is not working??? I unhooked the wiring on the back, leaving it in the stove, and it tested ok for Ohm test.
Is there any other way I can test?

Set the oven to broil. Now does the broil element come on?
If not then the board is bad since the wiring and element are OK.

Sounds like you have done a thorough test and it is pointing to a bad board.
This is assuming that the oven sensor you replaced is OK.
You could check it just to be sure. It should be about 1100 ohms at room temperature.

I'm stumped. I turned on broiler to lo, it heated up red and got to 350.

So I borrowed a better ohm meter and the new probe i bought tested out at 1097. I decided to check out elements again, take them out completely to test and got some strange readings: .019 for bottom element and .022 for top element. Should they be around 1100 too? I didn't see anything wrong with the elements in appearance of the wiring???

This looks OK

No they should be around 20 ohms.
What you saw was probably due to the meter type/scale you were using.
You probably had it on a 1K (1,000) scale. so the resistance on this meter is 0.019 X 1,000 or 19 ohms.
Both elements look OK to me.

Well I ordered and installed the control board today. Went in pretty well. I tested the bake setting and I still have a problem with the preheat temp getting up high enough. I set oven baking temp at 325 and it heated up to 275. I figured I would set a little higher so I can still get baking done today and set to 375 - temp reached 350 in oven.

Is there another sensor or relay I can test?

Later on I have been messing with the temp to try to guess which setting I need to use to get the temp I want and just use the oven thermometer in the oven to help me get the right temp. The temp has even varied above my desired temp about 25 degrees. What is the normal degrees of temp that a setting will vary? +/-5, 10, 15 degrees?

I am not sure what the temperature variation should be in this oven.
But yours is definitely jumping around too much.

No. The oven temperature is controlled by the oven sensor and the control board.

I am stumped as you have replaced both the parts and still have a problem.

The only other thing I can think of is the vent (Items 127 and 59 in Section 2).
Check that it is clear.
This is a long shot.
My thinking here is that the oven is holding too much heat at the top so the sensor reads this and your oven temperature is then low in the center.

Vent is clear.
I noticed that new probe was a little longer than the old one and I had to splice the wires together because the plastic connectors were not exactly the same. A little note that came with the part said I might have to do that...which wasn't a problem.
Today I baked some bread at 400 and it worked fine... I just ignored the beeper and used the oven thermometer to judge when it was hot enough.
