Power to fridge is good, fans turning, compressor hums for 20 seconds then clicks off, Replace relay, capacitor tested good, put back together still doing same thing. Did ohm out compressor bottom poles was 7 ohms, top to bottom for the to sides read 3 ohms. Have any ideas?

Go back and see if your compressor has continuity from anyone of those posts to ground if so your compressor is bad. I hate to say it but after replacing the start relay and it still don’t start sounds like the compressor anyway. I ohmed out compressor each post to ground and showed no short. Also ohmed two bottom post showed 7 ohms, then each bottom to top post each showed 3 ohms each. Today I was able to get a amp meter to put on each lead. As it starts reads 14 amps drops to 10 on each lead. LRA rating on compressor is 19.5 amps. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

The compressor is kicking out on the overload because it’s overheating. The compressor doesn’t have to draw over the LRA (locked rotor amperage) to do this. All that means is that the rotor is not locked but I still think that the compressor is bad. You have already replaced the relay and the overload (relay and overload made together) both can cause your problem but you still have the problem after changing them. There is only one more possibility you said you have good power but did you check it with your meter or did you just assume because your fans are running? Its possible that you have low voltage your, fans may run but it can be too low to start the compressor. Check voltage at the wall and make sure you have at least 110 volts. I will tell you that it’s far more likely that the compressor is bad but it’s worth a shot before you condemn the compressor. Appliance Repair Guide For All Major Home Appliances
