Hi-
My fridge's history;).....
First condensor made a loud thumping noise every time it turned off. After a year it stopped making sound then ice maker stopped working. Now, freezer won't ever get cold enough to freeze anything solid and fridge part is not cool enough even though it's set at the coldest setting. No frost anywhere that I can see. I vacuumed around coils but no improvement.

I'd rather not toss it out if it's something that can be fixed. Any chance of that?

Thanks,

Teresa

Hi.

Remove the evaporator cover in the freezer and check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils.
Coils must be evenly covered with frost. If not and the condenser is clean and condenser fan motor is running - then there is a sealed system problem.
That's expensive.

Thank you.

Simon.

Thanks for your reply, Simon.
Where is the evaporator cover? Is it that panel on the back wall of the freezer?
Funny thing is, I put a sandwich in the freezer this morning so I could keep it cold (the freezer being colder than the fridge part) and it actually froze. It hasn't worked for 2 weeks and all of a sudden, now it's freezing again. I wonder if I should try the ice maker again.

Yes, that is the back panel in the freezer.

Simon.
