What would the symptoms be if the capacitor was bad on the washer motor? I just replaced the motor, and the machine still doesn't work right. It seems to go through the wash cycle properly, but then stops at the point of spin or second spin and rinse. If I go to another place in the cycle, or another cycle (perm press or delicates) it will try to start up, then stop again at point of spin or ? When I changed the motor, the capacitor looked like it had been shorted or burnt with a small area of bare wire. There is no more bare wire, but I think maybe the capacitor itself is bad.

Probably a bad lid switch. You can pull the connector off an jumper the pins to check.
