fridge was installed by my contractor yesterday, and when I tried to open the freezer bottom (french door) it was tight. I pulled a bit harder and it opened to reveal the entire bottom of the freezer was a single sheet of ice. I then noticed there was water all over our brand new floors. The floors were just sanded/stained/sealed two weeks ago, and have not settled, so the floors quickly cupped and are totally ruined. My contractor pulled the fridge out and the line is intact, no leaks, and the water on the floors is clearly leaking from bottom of freezer bottom drawer out the front. When you look in freezer you can see a trail of water that basically runs from top of freezer down. My question is, do you think this is an install issue, or a defective freezer? The floor damage is $5,000 so I know GE, the appliance retailer and the contractor who did the install are all going to try to point the finger.

I cannot believe this has happened, I'm furious, and need to get it fixed. GE will be on Saturday, hoping for an immediate resolution.

Any guesses?

If there is nothing wrong with the outside ware line and/or connections that means the problem is inside the refrigerator and should be covered under the manufacturer warranty. I don't think it covers any other damages. That's why we use an insurance.
