Hi.

Check if the clutch is installed correctly. If you will provide the model number, I'll be able to get you the video clip on installation.

Thank you.

Simon.

Whirlpool Model LSQ8200HQo direct drive top load washer, noisy at initial spin cycle. Goes away after speeding up. Lock ring for the brake cam which engages the clutch comes out loose for unknown reason

Hi.

Check if the very bottom of the basket drive is worn out and there is no groove.
In that case you need to replace the

Basket drive Part number: 285792
Part number: 285792

Thank you, Post the results.

Simon.

Thank you for your comment. Although I was about to give up on my washer, I kept on analyzing my washer problem. I went to an Appliance store to see how a new t-bearing would look in comparisson to the present condition of what is currently installed at my washer. The new t-bar have a grove for the lock ring, which is now missing at my machine. I have replaced the t-bearing and it solved to keep the snap ring in place. I have also checked the brake pads. I have noted that there is sign of metal contact. Seems that brake pads doesn't fully engaged at the spin cycle. I suspected that the metal tab acting as a brake guide hinders the movement during the initial spin, so I increased the opening of the metal tab for better free play by prying it wider with a screw driver. My washer is now fully functional and quiet during spin mode.
To recoupe, initial problem was that washer won't spin, then it was noisy at initial spin.
Resolution: I replaced the clutch assy, drive block, t-bearing, and made adjustment on the opening of the brake metal tab.
