Here are your parts Replacement parts for Maytag MER6555ACW FREESTANDING-DOUBLE OVEN-ELECTRIC | AppliancePartsPros.comHow were the below tests run re: was the oven turned on and in preheat or was it off? Bottom Oven Bake element tests 22 ohms, Back removed, One lead to element tests 118v, Other lead to element tests 0v. Element looks OK. Something weird is going on here. I am assuming from the Top Oven test that you are measuring from the frame or Neutral on the unit. Since the element is good you should see 118v on both sides. There is a possibility that the element has grounded this could be through a support post, part of the element should heat up. I am not sure how to explain this but will give it a try. You see 118 v on one side, the element is not connected to Neutral so should not be passing current therefore will not drop voltage so there should be 118 on both sides. Top Oven Leads on bake element both test 118v. If you check across the element do you see 240 or so volts? It is normal on most units for the element to have 120 volts even when off. The element is not connected to Neutral so will not pass any current. The other side of the line must be switched in and then the element heats up. FYI: Oven elements run off of 240 volts. Your power is two 120 volt supplies that are 180 degrees out of phase, so when one is positive 120 the other is negative 120 giving 240 between the two. They share a common Neutral but this is not used in the element wiring so checking voltage to it can be confusing. |

Thank you,
The voltage tests were done in preheat setting.
To clarify:Leads to bottom element in preheat setting with temp set at 300, voltage across the leads is 0 volts,
Individual leads to ground (frame ground on back of unit), one lead is 118v, and the other is 0v. Same at output blocks on back of control.
I have the bottom element out and the leads pulled out for testing.
I don't get any voltage when on bottom bake leads when unit is turned off.
Hope this helps...Regards

Sounds like the control board is toast. It is not switching in one half of the line.
I don't get any voltage when on bottom bake leads when unit is turned off. This just means that the control board has a second relay which switches out the other side of the line when the control is set to off. |

I can probably get the wiring diagram for the unit but schematics of the boards are not available.
As far as I know none of the manufacturers publish them. |
