Maytag mdg8400aww I have aMaytag mdg8400AWW dryer.... Same problem as this guy anyone have a solution?

What I eventually found out was the cause for the new boards to blow was a defective timer. So I ordered a new timer, this also caused the board to blow. After 2 new moisture bds and two timers, I called in a Mayatg repairman. He also couldn't figure out why they were blowing, until he placed a call to a major service center. It turns out initally it was my original timer, however an "oldtimer" tech at the service center remembered that the parts Whirlpool were sending out had the right part number on the box, but the wrong part in it. I was getting the wrong timer for a replacement. I found out that this triggered a national recall for this problem. The problem was it was dumping a 120 volts across a connection on the board that shouldn't have a connection made, the timer had a connector where it shouldn't have that made a connection with the board plug. This only happened when a certain dryness selection was made on the timer.

I have since sold that dryer, I would be hard pressed to by another Maytag/Whirlpool etc product again. I use to think that Whirlpool was the gold standard for appliances, not no more.
