Hi all,

This is my first post in this forum trying to get some assistance with an issue I am having with my range oven. We set the oven to preheat one day and a loud noise and sparks started coming out from around the baking heating element area, immediately we turned off the power and breaker to the range. After cooling down we checked to see what could be the culprit and after some research online we found that most often than not it was the actual baking element which had a burnt hole in it and had broken which was an obvious part that needed replacement and the oven sensor which seemed to have been burned out as well. and it didn't show any continuity on a test. As it stands the oven currently works except for the oven which we tested and set it to preheat but it wasn't getting warm at all although it was making the "clicking" sound you typically hear when you set it to preheat. I have read in this forum and some other places that the control board could be the culprit of those issues, but being that this is my first attempt at fixing my own appliance I would like to get some feedback or more suggestions to test if someone has anything that could be of help, my family would be very appreciative!

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for General Electric JBP66SK4SS Electric range | AppliancePartsPros.com

Yes it does sound like the control board.
If the stove does not come ready (stays in pre-heat) then I would replace it.

You may also need a faceplate for it depending on how nicely the old one comes off.

FYI: If you clock on a parts picture a new page will open with more info on the part and often a Q&A section.

Thanks for the reply denman. i haven't spent too much money on the parts that I have bought so far but since I was still having issues I needed to get some more feedback regarding this problem. I will go ahead an order the control board for it and will post back on here if it was successful or not. What would cause for me to need a new face plate like you mentioned on your post? Is it easily damaged when removed? What can I do to improve my chances of not having to replace the face plate as well? Thank you for your time and helping me out.

They are usually stuck to the control board.
If it does not come off easily heat it up with a hair dryer , this often loosens the glue.
