I'm having a nightmare with my GE front loader washer. I gave up and called the GE repairman, but not sure that was any help. Thus far he has changed the inverter, the motor, and the control board. All this hasn't change a thing. At some point during the cycle the washer just stops, unlocks the door and get error E46. Anyone our there have any idea where to go from here? I don't think this guy can fix my washer. The only good thing is that he only charged me for the first part the inverter. He is running out of parts to change, this will be his 4th try. but has not made any difference thus far. :(

This is what I got from the service manual on this model
E46 Drive motor - over temperature Inverter over temperature. Check Motor - t10 tumble, t11 spin, T14 spin. Power down (unplug) washer, wait 30 seconds and retry - use whites cycle sanitize temperature - if reoccurs, replace drive motor.Inverter over temperature. Check Motor - t10 tumble, t11 spin, T14

So did you do it? If you did it, what was the result? Quote: ... Thus far he has changed the inverter, the motor, and the control board... Did he replace them one piece at a time or all of them together? Gene.

Yes I did the test and found no problems. He replaced the parts one at a time. He replaced the inverter twice. I have since moved the washer power plug to another outlet, and a magic, it works. It has washed 5 loads thus far with on problems. Maybe it wasn't getting enough power at times causing the errors. May not last, but works for now, so good deal. I'm going to put a meter on the outlet and see if the voltage is low. Maybe the nightmare is over.:) And thanks for the reply Gene.

You are welcome. All electronics are very sensitive to the voltage and it is very possible there was something wrong with that outlet. Also it is a good idea to use a surge protector.
Gene.
