I bought my GE Harmony washer in 2005...a couple of weeks ago, it gave me a message on the screen that it was not draining properly to check for kinks and blockages in the hoses and drain...so I did...nothing. I closed the lid and it started working fine. Over the next few days, I noticed that it would drain fine during the first drain cycle...it was the final one that it wouldnt drain...it always stops at either 7 or 8 minutes remaining. Sometimes, you can open the lid for an hour or two and when you close it, it will resume...others, it takes a day or two to finish. I originally thought it was the pump going out, but that would not explain why it drains fine on the first drain and not the last one. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be going on with it?

Thanks_
Buddy

Hi Buddy,

What is the complete model number of the washer?

What kind of detergent did you use?

It does not...what does that mean? Nowhere in any paperwork with our machine does it say to use that

"HE" means "high efficiency". According to the Owners manual (page 16) for your washer you must use only HE detergents for this washer.

I figured that would be what it meant...lol...so do you have any idea as to what I can do to fix it? Like i said, it drains on the first drain cycle...just not on the final one.

Thanks for all of your help so far...

The cause of the problem can be that wrong detergent created suds. You have to rinse out the washer, clean the dispenser as described in the Owners manual and switch the detergent. Use a smallest possible amount of HE detergent and don't use any fabric softeners. Give it a try and post the results.

I cleaned the washer as instructed in the owners manual...I ran a rinse cycle once I got done...once again, it stopped at 7 minutes. I wonder if it is a computer problem since it always stops at 7 or 8 minutes....what are your thoughts?
