My almost 2 year old Kenmore Range hood exhaust fan stopped working today. Its light is working so I think the fuse is not blown but when I turn on the switch for the fan, I hear the motor running but the fan wont turn.

Hi.
You need to remove the filter and physically check what is going on. May be the fan blade is worn out, may be something wrong with the motor? Please check and reply.
Thank you.
Simon.

I really appreciate your response. I removed the the filter and I could not tell whats wrong. When I turn on the switch, the fan is getting the initial momentum and it starts to turn but right away it is stopping. I hear the motor whirring in the background.
Should I unscrew and remove the whole fan area to see if anything is wrong? I am not much familiar with electronics/appliances but at least I want to figure out whether its just some part that need to be replaced or the whole thing so I can plan the budget ***sigh** :-( Any more detail instructions please to help me?

Hi.
If the motor is located on the roof, there is nothing you can do from the inside. You need to get to the motor.
Simon.
