Whirlpool Washer SM8280867 - At the start of the wash cycle, the washer would fill and stop with no further action. There would be an odd smell coming from the washer. Called an appliance repair person who opened up the washer and said that the motor was in good shapre and he could not find a problem. He put the washer back together, turned it on and it worked.
That was on Friday of last week. The washer worked fine until Sunday night. It did it again, filled up, stopped and emitted odd strong odor. When the smell started, my wife pushed in the control knob to stop the washer. After about ten minutes, she pulled the knob out and the washer started up. She did three loads with no problems.
What is going on with my washer? Do I have a control board problem?
