My six year old refrigerator is acting up. I first found water in the fridge. I though the issue may have been an over-filled freezer. I fixed that issue by removing some items.
Two days later I find a ton of frost built up in the freezer.
I decided to clean out the freezer and fridge and see if that helped the issue.
Today I have less frost, but now my fridge is too warm. It's still cool (but for who knows how long if the kids don't stop opening the door!) but it's very apparent that it's not as cold as it should be. The freezer, on the other hand, is mighty cold.
Of course this happens on a weekend when all the repair shops are closed. Money is tight these days, so I'm hoping this is an easy repair.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In the refrigerator section, look at the bottom of the control panel, you will see a fairly large hole with a black plastic part inside. That is your defrost timer. Turn it clockwise with a flat bladed screwdiver untill the compressor stops. Check for defrost action, if this defrosts, you have a bad defrost timer, if not, you probably have a bad defrost thermostat, a round thing stuck to the evaporator coil.
If you have trouble doing all this, just remove tha freezer back panel and use a hair dryer to melt all the frost. Replace panel, fridg. should work for a few days till you get service.

I must be dense, as I cannot find it. I see a small hole, smaller than a dime. The back panel is all one piece, but only has screws on the bottom. I can't figure out how to get it off. I am in the Altoona area, and see that you are in State College, are there any repair places you recommend that won't rob me blind? (I hope it's not against the rules ro ask!)
