My Whirlpool Refrigerator, model ED25DXXN00, ice dispensor, makes a funny noise after the ice comes out. The ice comes out fine. After the ice comes out there is an "air sucking" noise for a couple of seconds. It does this everytime. I want to fix this. What parts do I need to order? I have the front face plate off the fridge but would appreciate any "detail" instructions on how to do the actual repair. :D

Thanks. Hal

I THINK your noise is caused by a bad seal on part #9 on the dispenser door. When it closes, air is being sucked in around the door.:)

By "Part number 9" am I right in assuming you mean the "Door Chute" as described in the parts breakout? If your right, do you feel replacing this one part should do it? Do you know if the assembly (part 10) includes part 9, the door chute? if so, I might just get the whole "kit". Your thoughts?

Thanks. Hal

BTW: What does your handle "drags1998" refer to?

Part#9 on page#4 is the door that closes after the ice comes out. It looks like it is a single part.I think that will do it for you. Does this seem to be where the noise is coming from? Drags1998 you ask?? I'm an X-drag racer that finally got racing out of My system in 1998. Ran S/Comp(8.90) with a partner for almost 20yrs.

That is where the noise is coming from. Now that I have the cover off, I can "help" it close by pressing on it and cut the noise time. It does (and always does) seal after a few seconds.

"X-drag racer"?:) I hate to disagree with someone who is helping me but I don't know that there are any! I'm also an "x"! I'm originally from Montreal, Canada. In the late 60's I wanted to get into Super Stock (with the likes of 'Grumpy' but could not afford it. Instead, I got into the NHRA organization (Tech Advisor) and did tech work and starting at our local track and other NHRA events. Now I just watch, but........ ;)
One of our Corvette Club Members is doing S/Comp now with a 'Vette.

Thanks for your help. Hal
