My whirlpool refrigerator is not freezing/ cooling. The freezer portion is warm at the top and cold at the bottom

Is the evaporator fan(in the freezer) running. It distributes the cold air around the freezer and into the fridge side. If it is running the evaporator coils behind the back cover of freezer may be iced up blocking the air flow. (Defrost problem)
