Our Frigidaire side by side quick cooling/freezing this past week. I was online with a technician from a different site, and they believe the 'relay' connected to the compressor needs replaced. Upon removing the back panel, I've determined the fan still works, the compressor is hot to the touch, and there is an intermittent click sound. Please verify if you believe it is indeed the relay, and what part this equates to on the appliance pros website - I've discovered a 'starter' and a 'capacitor' that could both be the 'relay'? If you think the compressor is faulty, please verify instead so I can order the proper parts.

Thanks.

Based on your findings, I too would say the starter (AP3790738) needs to be replaced. The compressor has three posts that the starter connects to and it would be a good idea to verify you measure resistance with a multimeter between each post just to ensure the compressor is not the problem. An open circuit between any two posts, or a short circuit between any post and the compressor casing would indicate a failed compressor. If the compressor checks out as OK, replace the starter and it should be cooling in no time.
