It seems from reading - some people replace their control panel..... to find out they then need to replace another part that is located on the door as well ( i believe the 2nd part is called a electronic controler???
Control panel PART NUMBER:8558940 = $123
Verses.... Electroniccontrol PARTNUMBER: 8564547 = $105 or would i need both of these? All of the sudden my dishwasher will not start and has the touchpad symbol for the "normal wash" constantly blinking Red(rapidly). I have been reading posts/thread for about 3 hours now... I originally thought it was the panel? But now I am starting to wonder b/c at the same time the blinking began I also noticed the door latch was floppy. When i put my hand in the outside handle and attempt to close it, It doesn't click into place. There is no resistance it's just kind of floppy - handle that will not click anymore. I have already done all the reset codes turned off fuse/circuit box for an hour. I could not get it to reset. So I’m assuming it’s a bad control panel. However, since the latch has suddenly turned floppy. I’M JUST WONDERING?? COULD IT JUST BE THAT I NEED A NEW LATCH instead of the control panel. COULD A FLOPPY LATCH CAUSE THE NORMAL WASH TO BEGIN BLINKING RED& KEEP MY DISHWASHER FROM STARTING UP?? :(
My question is... Could I possibly just need to replace the Door Latch Assembly
part # AP4264081 $29 (includes latch & door switches) VERSES touchpad
Control panel $130?? Thank you in advance for your time!!:o

If you suspect the door latch, then you have to open the control panel and check the door latch and how the door switches are engaged when the door is closed. Otherwise the new control panel should fix the blinking light. If you will order it from APP, you can return it even if it was installed but did not fix the problem. - The control panel Part number: AP3777709

Gene, since I posted last night. My dishwasher stopped blinking (momentarily) and the red "normal wash" light comes on. It then finally let me reset? by pushing heat dry - normal wash rapidly back forth.. it finally did what It said It would do at this point.. 'ALL" lights lit up and seemed to do a little self check. Then I pushed normal wash and START..... to my surprise! it did indeed start as I could hear the water running etc...... However it was short lived! it soon stopped & the wash light started blinking again. I did nothing & walked away.then about 10 mins later it started washing (running water etc…) on its own again But then cut off AGAIN (on its own) & started to blink again. I can continue to make it start up again but soon stops and begins to blink. . Now I have Hot soapy water in the bottom of the dishwasher but it will not drain when I hit drain cancel. So since now that it has actually began to start up the washing process ( but then stopping then starting up again back & forth. Could this be a bad contact such as a contact switch as well? Maybe the contacts that i am referring to are in the control panel that you mentioned earlier today. What are your thoughts? Should I buy a switch, control board & latch assembly? Thank you Sabrena

As I recommended earlier, you should check the door latch and the switches. If you will find anything wrong, bellow are the part numbers. - The door latch bracket Part number: AP3181572
