Original door latch assembly no longer available. Recommended part has different wiring configuration. How can I hook up the new part?

Hi Jim,

What are the differences you found?

Gene.

Hi Gene. Thanks for your response. The middle wire connection on the old part is two prong. The new part is four. Beyond that the shape is different significantly which should not matter, of course. But the slots for the catch also do not match the catch which I have also just replaced. I went to an appliance repair guy today and he showed me an older Fridg. unit that looked like it had the door latch lock assembly replaced. The middle two wires were attached to the top two spades. I followed that cue but the machine would not start even by manually depressing the sensor. And, as mentioned already, now the door latch does not fit the new part. EXASPERATED!

I'll try to get some information from the manufacturer. It can take a few days, especially because of weekend.

Jim,

My initial research came up with nothing. So what I would like to do is ask you a few more questions before submitting a full report to the manufacture.

If you can please call me with your model and serial number and both parts in your hand at the extension I left on your voice mail.

Thanks
