Kenmore Electric Range Model 790.9542 3301, about 8 years old.

The panel with clock display and buttons stopped working. Since it controls the oven, the oven isn't working either. The dials to control the glasstop burners still work and the burners all get hot right away, as normal.

Does the clock/timer $182 part replace all the button controls for the oven as well as the clock? Is this a logical fix to my problem? Is it worth it to fix an 8 year old range for almost $200?

I can check the connections with a Voltage/continuity tester, but I don't know where to test and I haven't taken it apart yet. I know how to check outlets, but that's about it!

Also, how do I tell what wattage my glasstop burners are? A new range had 1,500 and 3,000 watt burners for the single and dual elements, but I have no idea if that's the same or way better than my model.

Ok, I tested my power cord on the range. It's a four prong plug like this one:

When I touch any two prongs, they all give a "beep" on my continuity tester, except for the left prong in the picture. Touching this left prong and any other prong and there's no beep. Does this mean my power cord is fried?
