Hi:
The drum stopped turning in my old White-Westinghouse dryer, but the motor keeps whirring.
I suspected a broken belt. I removed the small rear door for the motor and found a broken belt lying next to the motor. Bingo!
But I have no idea how to remove the rear plating -- or whatever else must be removed -- on the dryer to place a new belt over the drum.
The dryer is old, but it runs just fine. And I have no desire in this economy to spend $300 on a new dryer when all it needs is an $8 belt.
A bit of background on my dryer: The lint trap is located inside the door, not on the top of the dryer. This is an old-school, front-access, 27-inch White-Westinghouse dryer. Probably around 15 to 20 years old.
Can anyone offer any advice on how to install the new belt?
Thanks so much! :)

Usually the top will come off or can be raised up. Held on by screws or spring clamps you pop up with a screw driver. On some models the front comes off to access the drum.
