Hello:
Oven display began to fade and the the oven would not heat. So I replaced the Clock/Display assembly. Clock/Display is now working fine and seems to control everything....but I still get no oven heat/broil..nothing.
Suggestions? Thermostat? Relay board?
Just noticed that when I turn the oven on I hear a high pitched sound that sounds like it is coming from the relay board.
Could a bad relay board cause the display to go bad?
Ugh.

Here are your parts Replacement parts for JENN-AIR W30400B | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a service manual http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16010312.pdfTry the diagnostics Do not know what the noise is, perhaps the fan. Unfortunately they do not give a schematic of the actual board but I did notice that the relay board does provide 4 volt AC and 21 volt AC to the control board. My guess would be that the 4 volts runs the electronics on the control board and the 21 volt is for the display. It looks like you have a thermal cutout in series with the oven elements. I think it is Item 4 i section 4 Internal controls. Try to run the diagnostics. |

Thanks for your help. I will try to run the test diagnostics.....although I am getting in over my head here a little. Changing the display was easy....but getting deeper into this may be a bit much. The display I received looks like this http://www.appliancepartspros.c...t_id=4088560&image=1Which looks quite a bit different. Do I have the correct part? Would the part have been changed or revised?

I ran the "test mode". Everything seemed to test fine. When I pressed the buttons I heard the tone for each button. The display did what it was supposed to according to the manual
The Fault Codes came back as "F0" which seems to mean there have not been any faults detected in that part of the system?
Does this point to a problem somewhere?

Looks like the control and keypad test OK
Did the bake or broil elements come on when you ran their tests? |

Could be the relay board but it as it is still a big if and the board is not cheap. Also with most electrical parts, if you order it you own it as there are usually no returns.
It may be time to call a service rep.
Even with you changing the HiLimit Thermostat I am not convinced that the relay board is getting the 240 volts it needs to run the elements. You need a meter to check the voltages and narrow it down some more and playing around with 240 volts can be very dangerous. |

OK. Changed the relay board....and yes....baking/broiler now working.
However.....now the display is very dim again......controls are all working....and I ran the diagnostics which indicate everything is working. I checked all the connections and Im pretty certain I put things back where they should be.
Any thoughts?

Can only think of a couple
The board you received may be defective!!! If you do a google on "jenn-air dim display" you will see that it is the control board almost 100% of the time.
The relay board does provide 4 volt AC and 21 volt AC to the control board. I am assuming it is on the relay board as I cannot find a separate transformer in the parts listing. Perhaps one of these supplies is low.
Just checked a couple other sites and one fellow had a dirty front panel window which was making the display look dim. |
