Please advice. My washer will not fill. I have tested the water valve and lid switch, and it's ok. Not sure what other parts go be bad. Lid switch passed with a meter. Water valve passed with aligator clips attach to the end of a power cord. No sure if the wire harness attach to the lid switch is bad or not. During the process of checking, something trigger the washer to fill and wash for 1 load then back to not filling again.

Please help and advice.

Also, seperate question: Is the water suppose to be cold during the rinse cycle, even though the wash is on hot?

Thanks,

Trent

Hello.

First of all check please if the button on the temperature switch is pushed in all the way.
Then check the water level switch. Install jumper between Grey and Yellow wires.
The water temperature in rinse cycle normally is cold, unless your washer has temperature switch with different options.

The water level switch Part number: AP4028725
Part number: AP4028725

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Maytag MAV6300AWW WASHER, ATLANTIS | AppliancePartsPros.com

Look at wiring diagram (last frame) if you will need to check the temperature switch.

Post the results.

Thanks for the quick response. Another reason for getting parts from this company. Not an expert, so not sure how to read the diagram.

Here's the crazy thing. last time i mess with it (yesterday), I left the jumper on the wire harness of the lid switch to the red, yellow, black (this video show blue, yellow, black. maybe different model for maytag. How to check & replace the newer style lid switch in a Maytag top load washer) and it didn't fill. So tonight before checking the water level switch and temperature switch like you suggested. Turn on the washer with the jumper in the wire harness, like I lefted last, and it fill. Take the jumper out and plug the wire harness back into the lid switch and it also fill. Not sure what happen but those are the side effect symptoms I'm experiencing. We'll see how long it will work with the water filling before it stop filling again.

Will let it go for now and check tomorrow, if it dont fill then check those two switches you suggested.

maybe you could tell me which switch is bad with those symptom.

Thanks.

Trent

So with the last time it filled, I did my 3rd maintenance wash in 2 days. After each wash, it would stop filling until I trigger or reset something. Here are my results and some side effects with testing the water level and temperature switches. test the water level switch w/ multimeter. 3 terminals for the switch w/ #7 on top (Gray wire on mine, but white wire from the video i saw) , #15 in middle (brown), #16 on bottom (yellow). Using the meter for term #7 and #16 have a reading of infinity (1). term #7 and #15 show a reading of infinity also, but the instruction video indicate it should be near zero (0). Believe I need to order a new water level switch. Please confirm and advice.

Since i'm at it, decide to test the water temperature switch with a test power cord. Unhooked the term #15 (brown wire) from the water level switch and connect that wire to one end of the power cord and another end of the power cord to red term of the water temperature switch (unhook the red wire from the temperature switch). Guess I still remember a little on reading the diagram from the electronic class I took back in high school or maybe just a lucky guess. Turn washing knob to normal wash and temp setting to warm/warm then plug power cord. Warm water fill. Change temp setting to Hot/Cold and no water fill. Then change to cold temp and cold water fill. went back to hot eventually and it fill with hot water, not sure why. Maybe it is due to bad water level switch. Using the terminal (brown) that having bad meter result. Not sure if it matter for this test.

Hope these inputs help to determine what part to order and get it fix. Maybe this will help someone in the future also. Lets start with me =)

Forgot, after some tests. It fill again, but only 1 cycle not sure why, so decide to do another maintenance wash with vinegar this time. Will find out if it still work in the morning.

Thanks,

Trent

Hello.

Please do as follows.

With tub empty jump at the water level switch Grey#7 to Yellow#16.
If the washer start agitating jump Grey#7 to Brown#15.

If the water start filling in - replace the water level switch.

No water, no agitation - back to the lid switch.

At the lid switch jump Black#L1 to Red#SW and White#15 to Yellow#M.
If the washer starts - replace the lid switch.

The lid switch Part number: AP4029156
Part number: AP4029156

Good luck. Post the results.

Not sure what you want me to do exactly but I unplug the washer first then unhook gray and yellow wire and put a test cord to it (forgot if the lid was open or not) power it up and nothing happen. replace it with a jumper instead, also nothing happen. So assume you want me to leave all wire connected as is and jumper wire for gray and yellow. The water fills.

The water level switch is bad, right?

Must be a loose connection or something but it's filling fine since this morning for a few time.
Will use the washer for now till hear back from you for confirmation that level switch is bad.

Thanks, sorry I'm not an appliance/electrician guy. needed specific/detail steps =)

Hello, Trent.

Most likely the problem is bad water level switch. See the previous posts for the part number.

Thank you .
