Starting last night the dishwasher ran for a bit and kicked off. I opened it up because I thought I forgot to turn it on so I was going to add detergent well I noticed a dirty bowl I put in it was upside down and full of water. Then I realized i already added the detergent. I closed it up and tried to turn it on. Well It would not turn on, turns out it tripped the GFI under the sink.

Now when I run it, it kicks on for about 10 seconds and shuts off tripping the GFI. No error code or anything. My initial thought is the drain pump is bad. I dont think the 110 going to the washing machine is shorting because it turns on also there is no leaks and it had been installed 3 years. I installed it (I also plugged it in to another outlet and it still tripped so the GFI is not the issue)

I just wanted advice on what to check first before I pull this thing apart. I just replaced the drain screen two weeks ago the other one was getting clogged up. I removed the screen today to see if I could see anything clogging it but it appeared fine.

Thanks
Chad

Update. I got it to run by plugging it into a non GFI plug using an ext cord.

My guess is either the drain pump is dirty, clogged or broken. I ran a quick wash and it is not draining. I disconnected the hose and ran it to a bucket so I can see how much is draining.

After doing some reading I went up and bought some CLR from the Store and put a cup of that in to see if that clears and debris out from the pump before I take the pump out and clean it.

Update

Checked the drain pump and check valve. I removed the drain pump and it fired right up and had plenty of power. Check valve moved freely, checked the circulation motor and that also fired right up. Plugged everything in while it was upside down and that also worked fine. I even plugged i back into the original GFI and it turned right on and this is the GFI that was originally tripping when I ran the washing machine for 10 seconds.

Well I put everything back together and ran it again. The whole bottom of the washing machine below the tub filled up with water. So this tells me that was what was causing the GFI to trip. This unit has an overflow safety so that if the water level under the tub fills up with water it will shut off the water valve.

Well I finnally shut it off and filled it back over and took everything back apart. My father in law came over and we raced the source of the leak back to the Oring on the main circulation pump. We pulled it apart cleaned the Oring which had hard water deposits on it and put it back together. So far i think I have it resolved but I am still waiting on the washer to finish running.

Its not tripping a GFI and its running but in the middle of the kitchen.
