Hello!
I have a GE model ZGU651EM1WG gas cooktop (installed around 1990) that sparks all the time after we are finished cooking. We can make it stop sparking by turning any of the burners back on again, or by unplugging the cooktop. Once the unit is cool, we can plug it back in and it does not spark anymore. The problem re-occurs after we use the cooktop again. I have been told that I may have a bad spark module. Does this sound right?
Also, I would like to inspect the spark module but I do not know how to open the unit. I got under the counter and removed all the screws on the bottom (about 15) to access the internal parts of the cooktop, but I cannot get the large metal cover to come off. I tried prying around the edges, but it won't budge. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Seth
