I've got a Maytag MAH2400AWW front-load washer that seems to be increasingly out of balance on the spin cycles -- this was not an issue a couple weeks ago. The unbalanced spin will trigger the SUDS error. I've done a washer clean (a few times) and replaced the pressure sensor, which has not eliminated the SUDS error. So the real issue seems to be the unbalanced spin.

Perhaps the bearings are going bad, or a bad damper? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hello.

With the rear panel off run the washer and watch the belt and the pulley performance. Also check for any rusty brown runs and spots from the shaft down. Does the washer makes noise in spin?
If everything checks OK, give a shot replacing the dampers.

the damper Part number: AP4044311
Part number: AP4044311
.

Post the results.

will try that, thanks! currently, the washer does not make any unusual noise during the spin...with some luck, perhaps that means that the bearings are ok.

With your washer empty, reach inside the basket and push up and down and see if the shock absorbers have good action, meaning they bounce up and down well. Push back and forth also. If it feels ok, then go to back, with rear panel removed, grab pulley and move up and down and side to side and watch the shocks... if they all look normal then your shocks are probably ok.

Also look to see if there is any grease leaking from a shock...

Put unit in spin with no clothes in it, and see if unit is out of balance. If it is not... then you most likely have an issue with an off balance condition that can be remedied with proper sorting and loading of clothes.

If you load a bunch of shirts that are light and a couple of towels that can get heavy with water, and they don't distribute properly around basket during spin, then you can have an unbalanced load.

Your suds issue may be from either too miuch detergent or improper detergent... HE soap is recommended.

Also check the leveling feet on unit to see if the locknut has come loose and caused an unstable condition which can result in an off balance condition.

Check all possible issues prior to replacing unneeded parts.

Thanks to both Simon and Markram for the advice...

I removed the back panel, pulley and such seemed ok, no indication of brown gunk. But, I noticed that one of the dampers had slipped partially off its metal hole and rubber gasket at the connection to the tub. Replaced that one, and so far 2 loads have run ok...

Will update if this works longer term or is was a symptom of other issues...until then, Thanks!
